Legos and Poisonous Spiders!

My third, fourth and fifth grade classes are becoming professional alphabetizers! I'll have them shelving books with me in no time! Last week they aced the picture book "E for Everyone" section, and today I challenged them with finding the call numbers for nonfiction books using the Dewey Decimal System.
They were given several groups of three books and had to decide together on what topic they were all about. A final activity was to look at a group of books and tell me on a scale of 1-5 if it was a topic they'd be interested in checking out someday. The most popular? LEGOs and Poisonous Creatures!

Veazie students and staff have been learning how to check in and out their own books in the library. Be sure to ask your child to share what book they've signed out this week. In Library Media class, grades K-5 will be doing Media Monday (our technology day) and WHY-Wednesday (our literacy based day).
Just a reminder about Book Back Due Days:

  • PreK - 1/2 Class Tuesday, 1/2 Class Friday (see the note Ms. Worster sent home)
  • K-5 Wednesday
  • 6-8 stops in casually with ELA classes and in morning, so their due dates vary.
